However, despite its brief production run the Short Churchill quickly gained a reputation among aficionados as a great cigar. Since then it has continued to be extremely sought-after. FLOR DE LAS ANTILLAS No1 RATED CIGAR 2012 - CIGAR AFICIONADO. NOW AVAILABLE IN UK !
London, England, September, 20th The story of Cigar Aficionado's 2012 Cigar of the Year begins in Cuba, the island home of José "Pepin" Garcia, his son Jaime and daughter, Janny. Pepin began rolling cigars at the age of 11 in his hometown of Baez. He rose to prominence in Cuba as a talented cigarmaker, but yearned for freedom and opportunity. One by one the Garcias left, eventually making their way to Miami where they began producing cigars. Their beginnings were humble: the factory was tiny, with all of a dozen rollers, and they didn't own the entire operation. But they had their first taste of glory with the Tatuaje brand, which they made for Pete Johnson. It brought critical acclaim as well as increasing demand, which led the family to venture out on its own, eventually constructing the massive and gorgeous My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Today, Pepin focuses his energies on growing tobacco in Nicaragua, trying various seed varieties. Jaime is the company's master blender. They released the Flor de Las Antillas brand in May 2012, using a variety of Nicaraguan tobaccos, their trademark double binder and a wrapper leaf grown in the open sunlight. They named the brand for Cuba, the largest of the Antilles Islands, which are called Antillas in their native Spanish. The standout of the four-size brand is the Toro, which has a gentle, rounded box press and a beautiful and evenly colored wrapper. The smokes are delicious from the first puff, with notes of nutmeg, white pepper and just enough strength without being overpowering. They are hard to put down. They are classics, 96-point smokes on our 100-point scale. The Garcias have worked long and hard since arriving to the United States, coming a long way in a very short time. Their cigars have made numerous appearances on Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 list, but this is the first time they have won Cigar of the Year in 2012.These cigars are now available in the UKClick Here to buy these cigars
HOYO DE MONTERREY GRAND EPICURE - The 2nd Limited Edition of 2013 HAS ARRIVED !
London, England, September, 5th One of three Habanos cigars which are destined to feature as Limited Editions in 2013 is the Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure, which has been released in UK.I had the benefit of tatsting the new cigar at the XV Cigar Festival in Havana back in February and I was very favourably impressed. The "Grand Epicure" is a large Robusto with a ring gauge 55 x 130 mm in length. Clothed in a typically dark Maduro wrapper which benefits from a second fermentation the cigar has a distinctly rich flavour and more strength than one would expect of a regular Hoyo. I thoroughly enjoyed my first taste of the new cigar and particularly liked its heavier girth. In fact the quality and condition of the cigar was excellent throughout. A superb draw aligned to a rich flavout marks this smoke is one not to miss once it is finally released ! Note. Great Aging potential. The Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure will be available in polished wooden boxes of 10 cigars. Brand: Hoyo de Monterrey Commercial Name: Grand Epicure Factory Name: Montesco Measures: 55 ring gauge (21,83 mm) x 130 mm in length Presentation: SLB of 10 units. Click Here to buy these cigars

ROMEO Y JULIETA CHURCHILL, Reserva Cosecha 2008
Since its birth in 1875, Romeo y Julieta has become one of the best-known of Cuban brands. The brand is particularly appreciated by enthusiasts who appreciate balanced blends with excellent aroma. Albeit almost a year late in coming Habanos S.A. has finally released. the Churchill Reserva - first tasted at the 14th Annual Cigar Festival in 2012.To create this Reserva only the best tobacco leaves from the Vuelta Abajo have been used. However the tobacco dates from the 2008 harvest hence it is not a "Gran Reserva" - as were the Montecristo and Cohiba Siglo VI from previous years in which 5 year aged tobacco was selected - but a "Cosecha" i.e tobacco aged for just three years. The emblematic Churchill vitola is one of the most popular cigars historically and is released with a limited production run of only 5,000 numbered cases, each containing 20 units. MONTECRISTO, The Myth Goes On
La Habana, Cuba, March, 1st- Heard of a brand with a name of its own? That's Montecristo. The Montecristo legend was born from the reading of Alejandro Dumas' famous novel The Count of Montecristo to cigar rollers at the H. Upmann factory in Havana. Since then, the legend has grown larger-than-life, as the famous character.Penciled in as a tasting benchmark to size up the other Habanos, Montecristo step on the limelight during the XVHabanos Festival with the launch of two new vitolas and the presentation, with absolute respect for its history, of a new band in an effort to boost its value and image. Now a new proposal, aimed at reviling all that taste in a shorter span of time, has popped up.Yet it had been a long time since the Classic Line didn't have a range launch, a move that give twice as much significance to the unveiling of Petit No. 2 because it clings to the brand's tradition by now adding a figurado, a niche in which the Montecristo No. 2 is quite a benchmark.Completely rolled by hand with long filler, the ring gauge will catch on among smokers because of the easy grip and good burning that makes each puff a thrilling moment. For its part, the midsize length makes customers love every minute of it, despite a tough working day. The exquisite blend of tobacco, exclusively rolled with filler and binder leaves hailing from Vuelta Abajo, guarantees faithfulness to the original Linea Clasica's mild-to-strong taste and captivating scent that enthrall both seasoned smokers and those who are now cutting their teeth in the realm of Habanos. The Edmundo line grows on with the coming of Double Edmundo, also featuring the new Montecristo band and bigger size. This Habano of Dobles factory vitola delivers this blend's classic scent and taste for approximately a one-hour-long smoke.Though featuring thinner ring gauge -large enough the delight passionate smokers- its length guarantees slow pleasure and intimate contact between smoke and spirit. In a word, this is a great opportunity to grab all the taste Montecristo has to offer unhurriedly.
PARTAGÁS UNVEILS ITS FIRST GRAND RESERVA
La Habana, Cuba, March, 1st- The Lusitanias Gran Reserva by Partagas - launched during the Habano Festival- has been designed for great Habano lovers and consists of a one-and-only output of 5,000 lacquered cases containing 15 units each, and individually numbered.Hand-rolled with long filler by seasoned cigar rollers, its blend was devised by Arnaldo Bichot, the larger-than-life master blender at the Partagas Cigar Factory, under the supervision of the Tobacco Institute. The wrapper, binder and filler leaves -harvested in 2007 and then subjected to a long and thorough aging process- were meticulously selected for this launch.Hailing from the tobacco-growing lands of San Juan y Martinez, the Ligero leaves used in this blend clinch the brand's characteristic strength, owed to the region's rich soils. For its part, Seco's leaves stem from San Luis, famous both in Cuba and around the globe for the peerless scent of its cigars. The character of Partagas' blend, made up of cigars rolled with selected filler and binder leaves out of Vuelta Abajo, gives this brand away due to their rich and intense taste.
MONTECRISTO AND PARTAGÁS WERE THE CENTRE OF ATTENTION ON THE XV ANNIVERSARY OF THE HABANOS FESTIVAL
La Habana, Cuba, Feb 27- This year the XV Anniversary of the Habanos Festival in Havana , Cuba featured no less than two new Montecristo vitolas: the sexy Petit No.2 and a new Double Edmundo, the first Partagás Lusitanias Gran Reserva, as well as the re-launch of the Vegueros brand in 3 sizes ! The historical Morro Fortress, located on one side of the entrance to the port of Havana featured as the location for the opening night party and proved to be an exceptional stage for the beginning of the week long event. At the "Welcome Evening" delegates were able to sample the two new Montecristo vitolas whilst being wined and dined within the castle walls by waiters and entertainers in historical costume ! The food, entertainment and ambience were exceptional. Anna Lopez from Habanos SA must be congratulated on creating a wonderful evening for all the guests who travelled to Cuba for this years Festival !The new Petit No.2, is nothing short of sensational. A Petit Belicosos - for want of a better description - with a sharp little pointed cap and perfect shade of wrapper for Montecristo. The cigar is in my mind destined to become a classic - a chopped down Monte No2 appropriate for contemporary smoking enjoyment. Any fan of the Montecristo brand cannot fail to appreciate this new cigar. The new Double Edmundo strangely did not resemble an "Edmundo" in any shape or form. The flavour is typically traditional. The size is excellent. The overall balance of strength and flavour different to Edmundo but to my mind better ! Not too short but neither too long a smoke. Iam not a huge Montecristo fan per se but this cigar I could smoke any and everyday ! What is novel is that both cigars will evetually be released in small wooden boxes of just 3 cigars - ideal as a gift for a fellow cigar smoker and the famous chocolate brown band has been re-designed to feature a red-gold fleur de lys at the heart of the traditional emblem. A real stroke of genius which serves to update the rather tired old design we had all become only too familiar with ! This stunning new make over makes the forthcoming release of the new cigars eagerly anticipated. Come on Habanos - I simply can't wait to once again try these excellent cigars ! Midweek delegates were invited to an evening where live entertainment and a five course meal enabled delegates to sample both the new Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure Limited Edition for 2013 as well as three entirely new "Vegueros" cigars.Distratcted as I was by the new Limited Edition I failed to smoke any of the three new sizes that constitute the new re-launched "Vegueros" brand. However some days later I tried the largest of the three new small vitolas and was pleasantly surpised at how well made these short smokes were made. The smallest of the three - a mini torpedo - will likely become very popular with those wanting to enjoy a quality, mild Habano. The XV Habanos Festival ended on Saturday 2nd March, with the Gala Evening in honour of Partagás, a brand originally founded in 1845, which this year presents its first Gran Reserva in its 168-year history: the Lusitanias Gran Reserva Cosecha 2007. These classic Habanos are Totalmente a Mano Tripa Larga -Totally hand made, Long Filler-, after a meticulous selection by Ligador -Master Blender- Arnaldo Bichot, of 2007 harvest leaves, aged for 5 years, from Vuelta Abajo, in the San Juan y Martínez and San Luis* tobacco districts. During the night, Italian tenor Darío Balzanelli, will sung the famous Cuban song 'La Comparsa', and the legendary Cuban singer Omara Portuondo performed with Maestro Patterson's orchestra and Maestro Santiago Alfonso's dance troupe.
